What is the Global Services Association of Jamaica?

The Global Services Association of Jamaica, or GSAJ (formerly known as the Business Process Industry Association of Jamaica), is a non-profit and non-governmental organization based in Montego Bay, Jamaica. 

GSAJ is a 70-member organization that represents the interests of the information and communications technology (ICT) and outsourcing industries, including BPO, KPO, and IT outsourcing (ITO). The organization was founded in 2012 by a group of operators that had similar needs.

Its goals are to advocate for better policies and actions designed to improve Jamaica’s ICT-GSS industry’s competitiveness. 

The Jamaican government, as well as related industries like education and training, telecommunications, construction, real estate, and finance who support the association.

Its key objective is to serve its members’ requirements and interests, particularly as they connect to the Jamaican business process outsourcing sector, in order to help the industry continue to grow and flourish.

Global Services Association of Jamaica’s mission and vision

The Global Services Association of Jamaica’s objective is to represent, expand, and diversify Jamaica’s outsourcing sector in order to create excellent employment for the country’s population by supporting and attracting businesses in the industry across the country.

The vision of GSAJ is to become the region’s leading English-speaking outsourcing destination.

The GSAJ’s ultimate objective is to advocate the government on behalf of ICT-GSS operators to enhance the regulatory and operational environment. 

GSAJ also wants to assist member companies in positioning their interests and competitive advantages as a group and to promote the image of the business sector in Jamaica, the region, and around the world.

GSAJ assisted technology-focused MSMEs to grow

The Jamaican Global Services Association (GSAJ) has supported local technology-focused micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in discovering opportunities in the global service sector (GSS).

“We believe that technology companies will fuel the expected development. They may be little, but they are adaptable, energetic, and eager to grow,” Gloria Henry, President of the GSAJ, remarked in an interview on last 16th of January, 2021. 

The Association is preparing micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) for development by aiming to expand the diversity of process outsourcing.

According to the president of GSAJ, efforts to advance technology-focused MSMEs up the value chain have already begun, and businesses are taking advantage of the support.

The Global Services Association of Jamaica (GSAJ) launched a program for micro, small, and medium-sized businesses called Scale up the Value Chain in 2019.

The association hired a consultant through funding from the Inter-American Development Bank to help these small firms digitize their operations.

Ms. Gloria Henry, President of the GSAJ, stated that they want to help MSMEs to create a road map that will help them expand their businesses.

Jamaica is the next best hub for the global services sector

The Outsource2Jamaica conference and expo seeks to connect service companies in the Global Services Sector (GSS). 

The Global Services Association of Jamaica (GSAJ) hosted the event, which is themed “Back to the Future.”

A varied group of global specialists, local businesses, government officials, sector leaders, and purchasers attended.

According to Gloria Henry, president of the GSAJ, which was founded in 2012 as a pillar of growth for the BPO sector, is focused on supporting the interests of industry participants, company growth, and information exchange.

The event showcases the industry’s advancements as well as the progress in building new partnerships, in addition to giving networking possibilities.
