The much-anticipated Inside Outsourcing book launch was a huge success!
The event was held on 8 June (GMT+8) at the Outsource Accelerator (OA) head office in the Penthouse of One Corporate Center in Central Manila, Philippines.
The country’s leading outsourcing executives as well as members of the government, and media for this esteemed event. Some of the attendees include former DICT Undersecretary Mon Ibrahim and Business Mentor Mike O’Hagan, as well as press officials from the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) and The Manila Times.
Inside Outsourcing book author and OA Founder Derek Gallimore discussed the many advantages of remote work and global employment, noting that global employment “will dominate the world.”
As part of the discussion, Gallimore explained his view on why outsourcing is “the future of work,” debunked the many misconceptions surrounding the sector, and shared his insights on the Philippine BPO industry.
Outsourcing expert, Gallimore also discussed why the Philippines has a unique opportunity to capitalize on the enormous wave of outsourcing that is about to hit.
“The next wave of outsourcing represents over 30 million professional jobs worth $600bn annually. The Philippines needs to do all it can to ensure that it can take advantage of this next big wave of global employment”
The floor was also opened for questions from the esteemed attendees.
Chatty Varona, Senior Implementations Manager at Boldr, asked, “How can outsourcing companies play a role in making sure that [BPOs] change the image of outsourcing for their employees and clients?”
Inside Outsourcing book author Derek Gallimore answered that this can be done via actions and through time. Gallimore cited the “crap” quality produced by Chinese manufacturers over 40 years ago, but people’s minds changed when China started building “the world’s best technology” when they produced iPhones and the like.
Now, Gallimore stated that “you just can’t argue that Chinese manufacturing is a necessary part of the economy.” In line with this, he noted that the Philippines “just needs to prove itself through its actions.”
After the Q & A segment, moderator and OA Business Host Trisha Garin then ended the event with a live tour of Outsource Accelerator’s world-class Ortigas office.
